Accidental Date
Angela Sutter was waiting for her math tutor to arrive. When Kennedi shows up, misunderstandings snowball and Angela finds herself in a situation she never expected.
About Erik Schubach
I got my start writing romance novels by accident. I have always been drawn to strong female characters in books, like Honor Harrington. And I also believe that there is a lack of LGBT characters in media. So one day I came up with a story idea that combines the two... two days later I completed the manuscript for Music of the Soul.
My writing style may not be the most professional nor grammatically correct, but I never profess to be an English major, just a person that wants to share a story. I maintain that my primary language is sarcasm.
Each of my books features strong likeable female characters that are flawed. I think that flaws and emotional or physical scars make us human and give us more character than simply conforming to some "social norm".

That was adorable. It's funny how Angie thought Kennedi was her math tutor just wasting time the whole evening. I would love to see how a date that wasn't accidental would turn out.

Thanks Michelle! It would be fun for me to continue their blossoming relationship in a followup short.
DeleteHi Erik, I think this was a cute one. And Kennedi is right about maths too. Eewww! I loved how this developed and that Angie and Kennedi found together. Sounds like the beginning of so much more. :)

I agree, math is eeeevil. Thanks for the kind words about the story. I'm betting they wind up being each other's happily ever after.
DeleteI love the sweetness of your stories. There's a tenderness that's so delicate and loving. Thank you for joining, and happy Love Spanks!
ReplyDeleteI can't help it, I'm a sucker for happily ever afters. It was my pleasure to participate in the event.
DeleteHey Platypus overlord, this story was an amazing peek into a blooming love and the two Kennedi and Angie are so relate-able it's adorable. I love how this turned out and it brought tears to my eyes. Love it!
ReplyDeletePlatypus! Woooo! I mean... thank you! I loved how it turned out too. Everyone deserves someone who threats them like they are special and matter.
DeleteI loved this! It was so sweet and Kennedi made me smile :) Thanks!

I'm glad I could bring a smile to your face. :)
Deletewhy doesn't this happen in real life?? well I suppose it does just not to me, oh well...
ReplyDeleteIts nice to see a story with short girls... SHORT GIRL POWER!!!!
Everyone knows that short girls are just simply concentrated awesomeness. :)
DeleteI liked the story, had a realistic vibe to it..
ReplyDeleteThanks Lisa!
DeleteSweet story! I can totally sympathize with the Calculus thing. I once switched majors out of fear for differential equations.
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to figure out where we will use calculus in everyday life, algebra sure, but calculus? Thanks for the kind words Tara!
DeleteHi Mr Schubach,
ReplyDeletei think i would of been suspicious of a [supposed] tutor hitting on me & taking me to the cinema, without a word about why she was meant to actually there LOL! But it was nice how it all came out as the title said as an accidental date!
Hi Clare! I was happy the way it turned out too, Angela deserved some happiness.
DeleteAh, what a sweet story. Angie and Kennedi were very cute. Hope Angie figures out her math and passes the class.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Sara! I thought they made a cute couple too. :)
DeleteI hope they continue to see each other.good story
ReplyDeletethanks
Hi! I'm thinking odds are really good that they are going to be seeing each other for years now.
DeleteI love this story it is such a sweet story and very romantic comedy like.
ReplyDeleteThanks Katy! It was such a joy to write. I love putting a little comedy in all my romances.
DeleteAhh, it was accidental. But I'm glad they still had a good time and decided to continue seeing each other :) I kept anticipating some special activity to help her improve her math! But the day they spent together was sweet. Thank you for sharing your story!
ReplyDeleteIt did improve Angela's math. 1+1=2 And then she sighs.
DeleteI love the idea of a story based on serendipity, a happy accident! Your characters are both sweet and real. Thank you for the story.

Thank you so much. I love serendipitous things like this. And I'm so glad my characters were wrapped up in its embrace.
DeleteCute story. I would never have tried to hit on my tutor, but then again, most of them were not people I would have dated. Angie and Kennedi are cute. Maybe their next date won't be an accident?

Thanks Marybeth! I'm pretty sure they are going to have tons of non-accidental dates now.
DeleteWhat a lovely sweet story. I love how they met and how the story developed. They were both cute and I want to read more about them.
ReplyDeleteIt was so much fun helping those two find each other. I agree, they are super cute together! :)
DeleteLove the accidental meeting
ReplyDeleteIt is times like that you just have to believe in fate.
DeleteOh my gosh this was the funnest story yet. Loved how they met and both thought something else was going on. Thanks.

I'm thinking this is their happily ever after by happenstance. :)
DeleteHow cute is this? I just love both these girls - I would love to hang out with them for drinks or coffee or movies, or whatever. They seem like relaxed, fun-loving women. Even with seeing the mixup coming, I was hanging on every word to see how it sorted itself out. Thanks for a good time. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the kind words! I'd love to just hang out with them as well. I always feel like the characters I create are part of my own friends and family. :)
DeleteI thought this was so cute. An accidental first date...I'd take it. I definitely would go on a second.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your contribution.

DeleteGreat story!
ReplyDeleteWell thanks!
Deletewonderfully, absolutely perfect :) sighs. I wanna accidental date now :D VIP A Amb
ReplyDeleteWouldn't it be wonderful? I loved sharing the story of their accidental date.
Deletenow my challenge, should you decide to accept it :D, is an accidental date involving platypi and/or fanfiction including My Little Ponies. hehe
DeleteOh wow, I didn't want it to end! I love the whole misunderstanding that turned into the best first date ever and reading this just reaffirmed my belief that it's not the packaging that counts (even though it sometimes helps ;) ) but it's what's inside that we fall in love with <3
ReplyDeleteExcellent!

Thank you so much. It was such a joy to write a story like this for the reasons you bring to light. Not to mention how cute they were together. :)
DeleteOh how fun! Loved the misunderstanding. And the playfulness between these two was awesome. We now know what happened to K.T....looking forward to seeing what happened to the blind date who got 'stood up!' LOL

I love misunderstandings that turn into something wonderful. :)
DeleteA really sweet short story.
ReplyDeleteI loved this!! I loved how an icky math tutoring session turns into a blossoming romance! I love how love slaps you in the face sometimes. <3
ReplyDeleteI'd take the date over math any day! And Kennedi just rocks!
DeleteA very cute story! I guess the guy with the red shirt in the coffee house didn't get his date. Did he wind up with the tutor instead? ;)
ReplyDeleteHe'd have a long wait since the tutor is in the hospital or on crutches ;)
DeleteThe end? Really? Funny twist to it :-)
ReplyDeleteSorry :) that was the end of that date at least.
DeleteMath and misund
